FT Celebrates 30 Years

For its 30th anniversary, Fehily Timoney remembered its early years and celebrated their milestone with employees on Friday, 27th September at the Cork Opera House Blue Angel Bar.

FT has been operating in Ireland since 1989. And this year, for the 30th anniversary, FT staff took a night to look back and to celebrate their milestone and evolution over the years. The company started in structural engineering, waste management and pharmaceutical services. Since its start, FT expanded its services to keep up with the competition, and identified opportunities. Now the business has nearly 70 employees and three Irish offices.

In honour of 30 years of business FT employees were invited to a 30th anniversary celebration party. Founding partners Brendan Fehily and Eamon Timoney shared their memories of the early days of the company and their perseverance in doing what they love in challenging times.  “For a company that started out in 1989, in a recession –  this milestone is a big accomplishment. Relative to our size, FT punched above our weight during these 30 years, in identifying opportunities and not being afraid to take on projects of any size”, said Eamon Timoney, Managing Director and founder.

FT employees highlight the sense of community among staff.  Eamon mentioned Sean Keohane and Sarah Toal, Sean joined the business when it first opened and Sarah joined 2 years later.  Eamon said “Our staff over the years and now are both skilled and open to learning new skills. You learn a lot about people and key to success is learning from each other. You’re so involved and they become your work family.”

Gifts were distributed by David McHugh, Director, to founders Brendan and his wife Rosemary, Eamon and his wife Kathleen, as well as FT’s longest serving employees  Sean Keohane for 30 years and Sarah Toal for 27 years with FT.  Sarah Toal, who works in Finance, says that the feeling of family and community among the employees has always stayed the same and it is where she has made some lifelong friends.

One of the main highlights of the event was the live band and dancing until late. The ‘Touchy Fehily’ signature gin and tonic cocktail, named after FT’s tag rugby team, was the special drink to mark the evening. Displays of company brochures to see the evolution of FT’s technical services through the years were also exhibited on the night.

“We imagined, believed and did over the last 30 years and we’re hoping the company will continue to do that into the next 30 years,” said Eamon.
