Project Engineer Highways Active Travel

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest Irish owned consultants with centres of excellence in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment and Renewables. FT provides design and contract management services for infrastructure projects such as roads, greenways, active travel, bridgeworks, rail, solid waste facilities, renewable energy, drainage, water and wastewater treatment facilities, airports, tunnels and gas pipelines.

FT is seeking to recruit a Project Engineer (Highways/Active Travel) to join our Sustainable Infrastructure team in our Cork, Carlow or Dublin offices. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have at least 2 years experience in the design and delivery of highways, greenways and active travel projects.

The successful candidate will join an established company and will have the opportunity to broaden their existing range of skills and experiences. This position offers exposure to a number of project types within the company, including the delivery of national roads, greenway and active travel projects and major highways design and build schemes. FT offers the successful candidate a clear path for career development to a Senior Project Engineer role. The successful candidate will also be provided with opportunities to participate in our Path to Chartership Programme and Mentorship Programme.

FT's Responsibilities

  • Design of highways, active travel, and greenways projects
  • Working closely with other Engineers, Technicians, Ecologists and Environmental Scientists within the Company
  • Ensure compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation
  • Takes ownership of issues and seek team participation to achieve best solution.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
  • 2 years post-graduate experience in the design of highways, greenway or active travel projects
  • Experience using design standards including TII, DMURS, Cycle Design Manual is a plus
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in the use of Civil 3D is a plus
  • Efficient work methods, functioning both as part of team and on own initiative
  • The ability to adopt and work to new procedures and systems quickly
  • Must be prepared to travel to site visits and client meetings
  • Full Drivers Licence
