Overview
2024 Fleming Award was won by Fehily Timoney and Company, Ramboll UK, John Sisk & Son Holdings Ltd, Menard UK and Transportation Infrastructure Ireland for their project presentation on the Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Scheme in Cork, Ireland
Congratulations to Fehily Timoney and Company, Ramboll UK, John Sisk & Son Ltd, Menard UK and Transport Infrastructure Ireland for winning the BGA 2024 Fleming Award for the Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Scheme in Cork, Ireland.
The Fleming Award is a prestigious annual award recognising excellence in geotechnical engineering awarded by the British Geotechnical Association. The award evening was held at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London on 3rd December 2024. The event was also webcasted live. This achievement is a testament to the team’s exceptional abilities and passion in delivering an iconic infrastructure project in Cork.
The BGA judging panel concluded “Overall, the project that stood out for the way it addressed the very significant geotechnical challenges associated with the presence of very soft alluvium and consequently large deformations using different soil reinforcement techniques to control settlement, was the Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Scheme.”
