Environment & Climate Change

Location: Co. Wexford
Client: Highfield Solar Ltd.
Status: Complete
Overall Project Value: Confidential

Brief Description

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) undertook a noise impact assessment for Rosspile Solar Farm, Co. Wexford, in partnership with Highfield Solar Ltd. Rosspile Solar Farm has an installed capacity of 95 MW and was the largest planning application for ground mounted solar PV nationwide, at the time of submission. The project consisted of ground mounted solar PV panels, inverter/transformer stations, a 110kV substation and all associated site services and works.

FT Responsibilities

FT undertook a noise impact assessment to support the Rosspile Solar Farm planning application, which included the following elements:

Providing acoustic advice on early site layout development and constraints identification.

Carrying out construction noise predictions and specifying mitigation measures to minimise potential impacts on nearby sensitive receptors, in line with the best practice guidance outlined BS5228 Code of Practice for Noise and Vibration Control on Construction and Open Sites

Generating a 3-D noise prediction model for the site in line with standard ISO 9613 Attenuation of Sound During Propagation Outdoors

Assessing the predicted noise levels in accordance with the best practice acoustic guidance and evaluation criteria contained in EPA document Guidance Note for Noise: Licence Applications, Surveys and Assessments in Relation to Scheduled Activities (NG4), ensuring that the applicable noise limits would be met at nearby Noise Sensitive Locations (NSLs).
